Contents

Content

Smashing Magazine evaluates software, applications, and web-based tools that are targeted at web designers and developers,[6][7] and publishes tutorials and how-tos on design and development.[8][9] Smashing Magazine also offers free fonts,[10] icons, and templates for download,[9] as well as showcasing other things of importance to the web development community, such as HTTP 404 error page designs.[11]

Regular Features

Each Friday, the magazine publishes an exclusive cartoon by Ricardo Gimenes, on the topic of a recent industry event, or more recently in the Fleaty the Bug series, common challenges to designers and developers[12]. The cartoons by Gimenes followed an earlier experiment into a cartoon strip with Paddy Donnelly which received a mixed response from readers in 2009[13]. However, the cartoons by Ricardo Gmenes have become an increasingly regular addition to the magazine.

Smashing Newsletter

Highlights of the magazine are collated every fortnight to form an email newsletter, sent out on a Tuesday[14]. As of May 2011, the newsletter is subscribed to by over 57,000 readers. The first edition, published on March 2nd 2010 was distributed to 17,321[15].
